Dan starting working with us in 2003 as an MOT Assistant on Saturdays and joined full time when he left school.
He has earned his stripes gaining experience throughout the company and now manages our Sudbury MOT and Service Centre. You will find him in Reception with Tom Roberts, his right hand man, and they will both welcome you with a smile.
Dan says that Treadfirst is a great, friendly company to work for .
When Dan is not working he likes spending time with his young family, MOTO GP and cleaning cars.

Had my car mot there in week failed on alot of things was looking at about £900 to fix it if it was fixable i took it to my normal garage for repairs if it was possible. they decided to take it to another garage for mot and guess what it passed with one advisory I’ve always used treadfirst but will NEVER go there again im disgusted with you all who decided to try rip me off hope your ashamed of yourselves

Avoid.Went in holidays of December 2022 because my catalytic converter got stolen off my car. They were the only shop with time to work on it and replace it.After the work my car gave me an electrical shock when starting. They said the car mustve already had problems and refused to work on it further. Had to get my car shipped back overseas and go back to Netherlands without a car with wife and newborn baby.At home my usual garage had to do more work and change the battery cost me 500 quid more plus shipping the car over, luckily I was insured for those costs, but had to wait till Feb 2021 to get car back and have it repaired.
Excellent, friendly customer service from Dan and Tom, when booking an MOT and tyre tracking check.Work completed within the time frame specified and for a reasonable price.Will definitely be coming back next year and shall be recommending to friends.
Went to the Treadfirst MOT and Car Service Centre, were i met Dan Smith Manager of the Sudbury MOT and Car Service Centre, who was very helpful and polite, and notified me that i was in the wrong place but need to go to there Tire centre up the road, i just wish the manager or person there was as helpful as Dan , because he needs retraining on customer service, i explained if he could help with regarding a claim to get tires replaced and paid by Michelin , who would pay the costs to them 'Sudbury Tyre' to replace my tires, 'asked if i had bought tires off them before, which i told him its a new car didn't need tires before' but then all he said was 'am too busy serval times', not reading the letter i received off Michelin just looking at the computer and i was the only customer in there, just given a email address, no name or correspondence to pass onto Michelin for them to contact them. In the end had to drive to ATS in Bury St Edmunds who was more helpful.
Very efficient service from this company whether for tyres or MOT. Car had full service and MOT. Always found staff very friendly. Definitely recommend.

Sorry it's a very late review.Back in November I got run off the road in the dark and ripped my tire only to discover when pull over in a layby my locking nut key was damaged. My only choice was to get towed to a garage by my breakdown. I was recommended treadfirst and I was right to listen. So very helpful in sorting the entire issue as quickly as they could
Lovely experience the last couple of days. Really friendly, helpful and knowledgeable staff. They resolved something I was worried might be a bigger problem than it turned out to be.
Absolute rip off. Make sure you get a quote. Payed well over £400 extra for service than other garages. Main dealership was actually CHEAPER for service. Avoid unless you got money to burn.For an idea they charged nearly £100 for a £25 bottle of oil because of "disposal costs" what a joke.
I ran a customers car here because I've used them once before when my usual garage was busy and they appeared to be ok. With my usual garage not open until 8.30 I thought it would be a quick turn around as I was in a hurry.I sent one of my staff up at 8am. At 8.10am I was asked to come over to the branch as she had an uneasy feeling. The car was in for tracking and alignment. This is a set service yet the guy behind the desk couldn't tell her how much it was going to be once the car was on the ramp. Up to £117 apparently for tracking and alignment!! (£70 at most places in town for this particular vehicle).I won't be sending further cars here for the following reasons:1. They provide no report whatsoever on the alterations they've made. You get this everywhere else. My employee asked what alterations they had made so she could tell the customer and was directed to a receipt that only told her the prices. She isn't some silly little woman and shouldn't be treated as such.2. They don't know how much their services are. I'm certain had I not gone to meet her at the garage the price would have been more and we would have a bigger problem at the is stage.3. They are by far the most expensive in Sudbury on the price they finally plucked out of the sky £78.On a separate note it is probably best not to scream and shout at an employee putting an expensive car on the ramp when the customer is stood watching. It doesn't fill you with confidence about their capabilities.I will be waiting for my normal garage to open in future so I can actually view a report and see what work has been carried out on a tracking service.

Brilliant place so friendly. Delt with my punctured tyre so quickly, Had to have new tyre fitted which was so fairly priced, even told mechanic had just had alloys sprayed to take care.. He did, and done a great job. The lady at reception was so lovely and friendly, so I booked my service and mot there...highly rate Treadfirst. Brilliant.
Their customer service is excellent, always so friendly, trustworthy and willing to help. I’ve had a few scenarios where I’ve needed a same day tyre change or a last minute MOT and they always squeeze you in if they can. They won’t overcharge or oversell either. Will always go to them first.

I had experienced a coolant leak, and being in the area for work I had no idea who to speak to about it, as my normal mechanic was now over 200 miles away! Arrived from a pot hole disaster at 930 worried as left dogs at home thinking 20Minutes to drop off an oap. Chris on the desk pulled someone off a job to get me in and out on my way home 1030!! Brilliant human kindness and understanding. good price and just made my day so grateful thank you!!
They were so friendly when I called with a suspected puncture, fitted me in the next day. Everyone was courteous, they kept to time and repaired the tyre inexpensively. A really positive experience, they will be my first port of call in the future.
Couldn't have been more disappointed with the service. We had several issues working with this company, and only persisted in the hope it was a one off initially. However, after three mis-diagnostics, an over-charge on parts and then incredibly rude service (we had to actually insist on what we thought the problem was - to 4 members of staff - before they finally listened, raised the car and saw that they - the experts - were completely incorrect). If we had not insisted, who knows what 'problem' they would have fixed/not fixed. There was no offer of an apology, compensation, or a solution even! We had the problem fixed immediately, efficiently and extremely professionally in Haverhill in the end. Such a shame.
Recently moved back to area needed tyres and remembered how professional there were, and they still are, good customer service and fair prices would definitely go back for their service's
Fantastic service here! We were visiting the area for a wedding and had the exhaust come loose. We called on a Saturday and 5 minutes later the car was up on the ramp and they were looking at it for us. As we were pushed for time, they were able to do a temporary job, to fix it, then we were able to take it to our garage when we got home.
Very efficient, very thorough. Unlike a lot of businesses these guys genuinely try to help.
